Senior Database Admin


We are looking for a Sr. Database Administrator who is a self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced, performance driven environment to join our team!You will play a key role in helping the department meet its objectives and goals. This includes setting future directions, establishing procedures and standards and enhancing communication with other groups including Business Analysts, Developers, Database Administrators and Business Product Owners. You will have a voice providing other team members constructive feedback and recommending staff levels, assigning work, monitoring performance and setting goals and objectives.As a DBA you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance and performance of critical Oracle Databases and enterprise applications such as Oracle EBS and our MRO system serving 3500 employees daily. In addition, we have Oracle, MS SQL and AWS Snowflake data warehouses so there will be many opportunities to learn other technologies with a lot of personal and professional growth potential.Specific Accountabilities- Configure and maintain database servers and processes.- Work with analysts and programmers to trace and resolve application database errors.- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of company business processes and the data they create and require, acting as a technical resource when needed.- Manage many database instances and availability groups.- Support and monitor the existing Oracle Server databases.- Write, tune and review SQL queries and stored procedures.- Proactively determine storage requirements, regularly reviewing forecast reports to ensure that our databases have the storage capacity to handle continual growth, and that sufficient resources are available to meet needs around unforeseen events.- Ensure our databases are kept secure by enforcing the security policies and practicing minimal permissions policy wherever possible.- Participate in and communicate a disaster recovery plan.- Performing oracle database and assist in application testing and patching throughout the environment.- Reviewing the next version of database software for migration paths.- Stay current with the latest database technologies and trends.- Participate in the on-call rotation, including providing break-fix support and scheduled out of hours work.As Database Administrator, You Have…- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.- 5+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA or similar role.- 5+ years of experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization.- 5+ years of experience with backups, restores, and recovery models.- Some experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for Linux servers with Oracle databases.- Some experience with Linux servers and Active Directory.- Some experience with MS SQL databases, SSIS, AWS and Snowflake would be considered an asset.- Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on our company’s success.- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a team player attitude.- Advanced knowledge of database design, file access methods and data standards.- Good time-management and communication skills, both written and oral.- Desire to continuously improve StandardAero’s systems while phasing out legacy systems.
