BDC is looking for candidates with experience who are interested in joining our team to propel our Official Languages strategy forward. The applicant’s primary responsibility would be to contribute to the modernization of BDC’s Official Languages (OL) strategy in view of upcoming changes to the Official Languages Act. The candidate would be responsible for all facets related to OL including, reporting, developing and implementing actions plans and communications. The incumbent will also work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to meet BDC’s OL requirements and aspirations of being a leader in OL.CHALLENGES TO BE METPrimarily, this specialist role is to:Keep abreast of proposed legislation, trends and developments in official languages (OL) and their impact on BDC and proactively make recommendations.Gather insights on OL best practices and use it to actively contribute to the development and execution of BDC’s OL strategy and complete offering, including communications, support, training, etc., with a view to improve the employee and client experience.Raise awareness and support for the linguistic duality of BDC, regionally and nationally.Provide advice and support to the management of the portfolio (e.g., with Chief Human Resources Officer, Assistant Vice President, Organizational Effectiveness and Director, Employee Communications and Official Languages).Draft written material such as briefing notes, reports or presentations intended for senior management.Interpret policies, review memorandums and submissions/reports to Government, and/or provide advice on policies in close collaboration with colleagues from Legal Affairs and Regulatory Compliance.Be responsible for communicating internally on OL matters and developing and executing communications and action plans for specific initiatives and projects.Plan, develop and execute tools, guidelines and communications on OL (internally and externally).  WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORMinimum of 5 years of relevant experience in official languages, human resources and/or compliance management.Fully bilingual, in both official languages—written and oral communication skills.Ability to handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities, with often short deadlines.Result-driven team player with a strong problem-solving approach.Excellent interpersonal skills, strong leadership and influential skills, and embraces diversity, equity and inclusion.University degree in policy development, publica affairs, communications, or other relevant degree.Proficient in Microsoft Office environment and digital tools (previous experience with working html).With us, you’ll be able to achieve the work/life balance you’re looking for, with competitive working conditions and above-market flexible benefits. This includes modern workspaces to work from when you are in our offices, and, for some specific positions, the ability to work remotely, on reserve, and/or within your community.Important Point to ConsiderVaccination Policy for COVID-19: The health, well-being and safety of our colleagues, clients and of the community are a top priority for us.
