Reporting to the Manager, Airport Terminal Projects, the successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and management of a diverse array of mid-sized design and construction projects, with a focus on within the airport terminal and ancillary buildings.Key responsibilities include: Managing assigned capital and investment projects, including developing project requirements, project scope, budget and scheduleSupporting Senior Project Engineers with the delivery of larger or more complex projectsPreparing and delivering on project implementation plans in collaboration with YVR stakeholders and Airport Operations and MaintenanceAssisting in the preparation and evaluation of Request for Proposal and Tender documents, including scope of work definition, technical requirements and schedule constraintsManaging design teams and reviewing engineering drawings with business leads and stakeholders to meet desired project outcomes while adhering to scope, schedule and budgetManaging construction contracts, work progress, change orders, payments and disputesProviding leadership in the areas of construction safety and environmental stewardshipMaintaining and managing project budgets including forecasting costs and risk managementLiaising with internal Airport Authority departments and external stakeholders throughout the projectFacilitating stakeholder reviews/engagements, permit reviews, design inspections, and site visitsTraining Junior Project Engineers and co-op students on capital delivery process and how to manage projectsKey qualifications include:Completion of a university degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering combined with a minimum of two years’ (for Junior Project Engineer) or five years’ (for Intermediate Project Engineer) experience in the design, construction or consulting industryAbility to register as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC); completion of the Law and Ethics seminar is requiredKnowledge of construction industry practices and standards; knowledge of airport operations is an assetDemonstrated project management skills including organizational, coordination, negotiation, scheduling and budgeting skillsProficiency using Microsoft office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook and ProjectEffective interpersonal, written and oral communication skillsProven leadership experience with strong people and time management skillsSound knowledge of contract law and contract administration processMust be able to obtain Transport Canada security clearanceThis position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external candidates.
