Procurement Manager, Inbound Logistics

We’re on the hunt for talented, enthusiastic team members who want to solve meaningful problems, in pursuit of being remarkably better for our customers.  We’re looking for a Procurement Manager, Inbound Logistics, to help drive efficiency across our dynamic global network of customs, air, ocean and landside freight operations. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Global Inbound Logistics you will support in devising and driving the right procurement strategy for a high category budget  spend. To be successful, you’ll need to bring in category procurement management knowledge and work in close collaboration with Inbound Operations, Planning, Warehousing/Fulfilment and other Supply Chain peers to devise an effective procurement strategy for Article as it continues its growth trajectory and expands its global footprint. With your effective negotiation skills, you will work with service providers to drive maximum value for Article and through robust contracting and effective vendor performance management, you will ensure that our service providers and carriers are executing operations aligned with our strategy.What you’ll doDevise the procurement strategy for the ocean and air freight business and oversee its contracting and compliant execution Develop your network in the space into mutually beneficial business relationships, actively seek out alternatives to drive value creation initiativesContract management and supplier relationship management to drive compliance and operational efficiencyRegularly meet with key carriers/suppliers to discuss metrics, trends and drive action plans for improvementWork across business units to support forecasting and meeting customer-driven demandWork closely with our operations team to drive efficienciesWork collaboratively with carriers and operations to drive down equipment demurrage, detentions, surcharges and any other related costsAssist the Logistics and Finance teams with annual budgeting and strategic planningSkills, Knowledge and Expertise7+ years of experience in the international transportation logistics industry with 3-5 years of Category Procurement Management experienceStrong knowledge of international transportation processes, standards and terminology.Strong Category Procurement Management skills, Negotiation skills and track record of managing supplier performanceStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in team environmentsAbility to respond timely to deadlines, balance workload, and take initiativeMust be analytical, results-oriented, self-directed, and have excellent time management skills.Prior experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs, etc.)Desire to always question, not only how can we do better, but how can we do remarkably better in line with Article guiding principles BenefitsAt Article, we believe in an “Ownership Mindset” where you’ll be given autonomy and the ability to own your work.
