Description of tasks and accountability A) The overall objective: The Planner uses past sales data and customer projections to establish short and long term production schedules. Taking into consideration the delays incurred by customers and suppliers, it will optimize inventory levels of raw and processed products to ensure a constant flow of high quality processed products while maximizing productivity. The Production Planner works with the logistics, purchasing, production, operations and sales departments to meet demand. He acts as the first point of contact for all communications between Sales and Operations and provides solutions to meet customer fixed deadlines in addition to assisting with the release of new products. The candidate will also manage the schedule of activities for all weekly and monthly production. Maintain professional contact with all company employees to ensure that the needs of customers, as well as the employer, are met. The candidate commits to this assignment in order to support the business plans of the company with regard to orders, cost reduction and improvement of active production. B) Main tasks and Responsibilities – Implement and use the finished product demand and supply management software (APS – Preactor) – Act as the first point of contact between customer service and manufacturing operations, helping to set priorities in addition to managing escalations as needed – Work closely with the purchasing and operations department to identify anticipated demands and supply constraints – Schedule and sequence customer requests for the current month and the 2 subsequent periods while ensuring the optimization of the required parameters in order to maximize production performance – Create daily, weekly and monthly schedules to meet production needs for customers by analyzing multiple variables including availability of raw materials, overall order volume, expected future order volumes, production capacity and equipment maintenance requirements, labor availability and costs. – Optimize customer supply plans under the inventory management structure driven by the supplier (VMI – Vendor Managed Inventory). – Adjustment of production schedules based on orders, availability of raw materials, equipment failures and labor shortages – Prepares and presents weekly efficiency reports concerning production processes to management; recommend collective actions that would improve production efficiency – Review daily orders in order to identify any gaps and to be able to initiate contingency plans, if necessary – Maintaining appropriate inventory levels for raw and processed products (DOH) – Inventory analysis for any surplus and obsolete items (FEFO) – Work in concert with Customer Service to optimize product mix and eradicate inventory problems – Recommends, implements and documents new procedures and policies aimed at improving the efficiency of operations – Preparation of training material to improve the efficiency and standardization of ERP systems and their use by employees – Cross-training with other Planners and replacement as needed (back up) – Generate all reports requested by management and by the various departments – Respect production deadlines while optimizing constraints (allergens, kosher, etc.) – Coordinate the trials and launches of new products – Plan and support production orders for Champlain as well as packaging rework – Any other tasks identified and given by an immediate superior C) Skills and Qualifications: – A business or analytical / quantitative profile – 3 years of experience (minimum) in a manufacturing environment with schedule planning tasks, use of production information management systems (MRP, ERP, etc.) – Good knowledge of Supply Chain concepts (buffer stock, MOQ, MRP calculations, etc.) – Advanced use of Microsoft Excel: Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, etc. – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, promotes teamwork, confident and respectful – Knowledge of continuous improvement (added value) – Ability to develop productive working relationships and positive attitude – Sense of organization, reliability, initiative and attention to detail – Developed sense of listening, good judgment About Nellson Nellson is the leading North American manufacturer of nutritional bars and the only full-service supplier.
