Piping Estimator


POSITION OVERVIEWAs an Estimator, you will prepare, review and present discipline estimates for specific project proposal activities. In this role, you will provide estimating assistance and guidance to projects, develop conceptual estimates and perform cost analysis. You will be responsible for assisting in the development of discipline estimates, developing and updating historical databases, and assisting in the development of department procedures. You will provide direction to others on estimate specific level tasks as required.DISTRICT OVERVIEWGanotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. Ganotec continues to position ourselves towards the future, constantly seeking growth opportunities yet never losing sight of what has made the company so successful.LOCATIONPointe-aux-TremblesRESPONSIBILITIESPrepare cost estimates on work for major projects locally and across Canada Develop comprehensive estimates for large and complex worksReview the owners plans and specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project; develop a plan for actual construction as the basis for the estimateReview all tender and contract documents and advice from the home office legal departmentCoordinate with other disciplines such as planning, scheduling, procurement, and proposal teamDetermine installation quantities based on drawings and specificationsPrepare and present your estimate to management and external clientsCollaborate for the continuous improvement of the methods and processes for developing estimates for the entire teamCoordinate with other disciplines such as planning, scheduling, procurement, and proposal teamMaintain a professional and trustworthy relationship with clients, professionals, subcontractors and suppliersQUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience in piping estimation with relevant industry experienceFive to Seven (5-7) years of relevant experience in mechanical construction or mechanical estimating for major projectsExcellent knowledge of the Canadian construction marketExcellent communication skills in both English and FrenchEffective presentation and negotiation skillsAdvanced computer skills.
