Manager, Peace Country TransitLocation: Fort St. John, BCPWTransit is seeking a full-time Transit Manager to lead the team at our Peace Country Transit operation. Reporting to the Director of Operations, Transit Systems, this role is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, evaluating, and overseeing the operation and budget of the Dawson Creek and Fort St. John locations. This position includes the identification of opportunities for transportation operation improvements and expansions.The ideal candidate will possess:Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or Transportation Administration (or working towards); a combination of related training and experience may be consideredSeveral years of progressively responsible experience in Transportation OperationsExperience in Finance and Shop Maintenance considered an assetPrevious fleet management experienceExtensive knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations, Transportation Principles, Administration, Management and Human ResourcesExperience with job task planning and organizingKnowledge with Computer Hardware, Associated Software and Systems (i.e. route navigation, database user interface and query, etc.)High level of accuracy and close attention to detailAbove average verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and people management skills, as well as great negotiation, organization, time management and planning abilitiesExceptional analytic problem solving and decision making skills”Lead by Example” attitude towards all staffEnhanced computer skillsKey Responsibilities: Plan, develop, organize, manage and evaluate the operations and budgetDirect the workforce to achieve maximum operational effectiveness & transit system efficienciesProvide guidance, mentoring and support to all staffDirect the activities of staff in relation to transit operations including dispatching, routing, and tracking vehicle maintenance etc.Ensure awareness of PWTransit policy and procedures and monitor compliancePlan, develop, and implement health and safety, and security programs and activitiesMonitor operations to ensure that staff complies with policies & procedures, safety rules and government regulationsNegotiate and authorize contracts within authority limits, direct procurement activities related to transit operational needsDirect and manage governance and regulatory compliance procedures related to transit activitiesForecast, document and report Key Performance Indicators to measure the effectiveness of the transit operations and develop strategies to correct problem areasDirect investigations to verify and resolve customer complaintsDevelop constructive and cooperative working relationships with employees and all stakeholdersRemain current with latest transportation technology systems and proceduresNegotiate with vendor representatives for services and preferential ratesRecommend or authorize capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property to increase efficiency and services of transit operationsAnnual salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
