About the OpportunityThe General Accountant is responsible for general accounting activities including ensuring that financial reports are produced loaded to Group office on time to meet deadlines. Prepare account reconciliations on a monthly basis. Ensure all recs and JE for the team as completed. Manage Fixed Assets and run and manage payments for Accounts PayableCoordinates the month end process for the accounting team; setting up folders, distributing reconciliation and JE lists, reviewing folder at end of month for sign off and completenessReconciles sub-ledger accounts to general ledger account balances, including AR, AP, Fixed Assets, and PrepaidsPrepares entries for month end closing related to general accountingPrepares Depreciation and Fixed Asset transfers on a monthly basisSets up Fixed Assets in CMSPrepares provincial sales tax HSTCompletes monthly analysis of SGA expenses, GRNI, and capital spendPrepares period end balance sheet, income statement, working capital analysis, intercompany out of balance, lease analysis, statistical files and other standard period end reports and analysis for reviewSupports technical aspects of the day to day activities for accounts payable and accounts receivable team membersLoads cashflow forecast into Magna portalPrepares monthly cheque run proposal for review and approval and loads Positive pay fileEnters approved capital request packages for submissionsMaintains and reconciles fixed asset schedules and databaseMaintains monthly capital progress reports (MCS) & coordinates monthly review meetingsResponsible for annual archiving processAssists with preparation of budgets / business plans / forecasts balance sheetOversees the completion of the year-end binders (CMF) and year-end Tax FileConducts the yearly Fixed Assets countMaintains work instructionsFollows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs i.e. TS16949, ISO14001Understands, promotes and lives by Magna’s philosophies and Employee CharterAdheres to core values; integrity, respect, trust, honesty, fairness and loyaltyPerforms other duties as requiredAbout YouMinimum enrolled in a CPA designationMinimum community college diploma in accounting or businessMinimum two (2) years general accounting experience in a manufacturing environmentAble to demonstrate leadership qualitiesFinancial reporting and analysis experienceProficiency with Microsoft Office ApplicationsExperience with CMS or similar accounting systemStrong organizational and interpersonal skillsStrong attention to accuracy and detailUnderstands GAAPAbility to uphold confidentialityDemonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environmentAbility to work overtime to meet customer needsSalary$65,000 – $75,000/yearHow to ApplyClick the “Apply Now” button and follow the instructions to submit your resume.
