Our client, a recognized industry leader in the field of building materials, is looking to hire a permanent Quality Assurance Supervisor to join their Ready Mix Quality Assurance Team.

The position reports directly to the District Manager and functionally to the QA Manager. The position includes assisting with daily activities of the department, will be responsible for conducting inspections, testing, monitoring, reporting, ensuring all products are up to the plant standards.

Industry exposure and supervisory experience is ideal for this position.


Full-time, permanent employment
Salary: $100,000 – $120,000 (depending on experience)
Three weeks’ vacation

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Department supervision, communicate with production leaders on quality issues

Review of raw materials, inspection and testing of new mix designs, making sure that products are in adherence to standards, technique and other processes

Support technical sales team with the planning of stamped mix submittals

Provide support to the technical sales team, and quality control technicians

Provide good and up-to-date information on any trends found that may need management attention

Working with external clients to handle quality assurance concerns and/or issues

Other duties as assigned by the District Manager and/or Corporate Quality Assurance Manager

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of direct work experience with QA/systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards within the concrete industry

Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration with APEGA (special consideration maybe given to a candidate with a C.E.T. designation and direct experience)

Direct experience with full understanding of standards related to concrete testing and analysis of raw materials: CSA Standards, ASTM Standards, ACI Standards, CCIL Standards

Minimum 2 years of experience working in a CCIL certified concrete laboratory

Familiar with the City of Edmonton and Alberta Transportation concrete specifications

Direct knowledge of QA / QC methodologies

Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

A good team player and team leader

Extremely detail oriented and analytical thinker

Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
