Vice President, Engineering Technology

We are seeking a VP of Engineering for a leading global heavy machinery manufacturing client of ours in the Vancouver area. The VP will be responsible for leading and managing both the Mechanical and Automation Engineering departments, including administrative and Human Resources support while fulfilling corporate objectives.

Responsibilities

-Working closely with the Senior Management Group to execute global and regional strategies
-Develop a dynamic responsive team and foster pride and a strong work ethic through leading by example
-Strive to stay within budgets and hours/cost loading by developing a process for tracking results and building team KPI’s to monitor projects transparently
-Work with Sales and Technology departments to develop Upgrade and Modernization projects as well as R&D
-Develop a Quality Control System for Mechanical drawings and shop floor support
-Nurture design work efficiencies, by developing a procedure to improve designs (review and approval process) and working toward a true modular design philosophy
-Plan and execute the implementation of new 3D CAD software, adding electrical and hydraulic components to mechanical drawings. Work to build our design library but also utilizing the parent company design library
-Encourage and inspire cooperation within all of the Engineering Departments, Manufacturing Shop and Service personnel
-Manage and facilitate project reviews and cultivate a corporate culture that celebrate success, learning and changes from challenges and issues
-Cultivate strong customer relations with current clients, and coordinate issues through to resolution
-Continuously improve upon processes and offer solutions to increase overall efficiency

Qualifications:

-10+ years of experience in an industrial engineering environment with an emphasis in heavy duty machinery
-Degree or diploma in both Engineering and management, technology, ASTT, in mechanical machine design and/or automation control

A solid understanding of:
-Mechanical machinery manufacturing, maintenance, and a strong mechanical aptitude
-Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems, and familiarity of components and design
-PLC systems, specifically Allen Bradley CLX, and familiarity of components and design
-Previous management experience required
-Familiarity with MRP, ERP software and procedures
-Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
-Flexibility to travel locally through Canada, U.S., and Finland
-Must possess a valid passport and driver’s license
